I've read discussions on another site, (cough cough), that reported the nitto's as being a softer compound with worse wear than the Toyo's. I've never ran either AT myself. The MT's I had were fairly equal. If anything the Nitto's were a little louder than the Toyo's (in an MT).

Having read the post above saying the AT's are made the same place, it may have been truck specific, a bad batch, who knows that showed the difference in wear. "give:

 

I've had a lot of experience with the nittos and can say that for most people they're a great tire. I like them better than bfgs. They balance very easy, and they wear very well. I've seen almost 50k underneath of a powerstroke and the 35s under my cummins have 8k and you can't see any wear. All that aside I have really started to hate any all terrain. I drive a lot on gravel and they're constantly throwing rocks at my once chippless paint....I'm going back to swampers As for the procomps, I wouldn't recomend the ats at all. I've sold several, and its seems like at least one out of ten tires won't balance. I've never seen a more out of round radial at. Not to mention that I haven't seen to many get close to that 50k warranty.

 

thanks GO OVRIT i wasn't thinking of going with the procomps. only the extreme at's. But i am liking the price i found on the nittos so i think thats the way i'm going to go

 

The Nitto MT's are way louder than the Toyo MT or even the BFG MT's, plus they are the ugliest tires out there.

The Nitto Terra Grapplers are a little soft, but if you rotate and balance them they are nice. As I said I have had several sets of Nitto Terra Grapplers and would buy them again. Now I am running Toyo MT's and liking them, I only have them because they are a more aggressive looking tire than an AT..

 

ive been in this same problem was thinking about the nitto 305's though.

 

ride for 6 hours in the cab of a truck on the freeway with 35x12.50x20 Nitto Mud Grapplers and you will never own a pair, plus they suck offroad, fill with mud and go no where same with BFG "Mud" Terrains, and I use that term very loosely. I had a set for about 33K on my 2nd gen dodge V10 truck and i would never own another set, i would rather own a set of SSR swampers, atleast you know they will work offroad when you need them. the Nitto's and Toyo's are identical in everything except tread pattern and that is where there wear/noise characteristics come into play, they are both made i nthe same plant in Georgia.

 

i am on my 4th set of pro comp and every set has been awsome. they ride great and there quiet. i have never had to balance a set and there are no wobbles. yes i have to agree the at`s to pick up stones but i am not worried about it cause the tires are under the wheel wells. traction i will say it is the best tire i have ever had in the snow. and i have had alot of tires. mud well its an a/t not a m/t so do go boggin with em but what i did have em in they did great....i cannot understand why noone likes these tires. oh well no skin off my back.....between nitto and toyo i would go with nitto.....

 

Im runnin the nitto terra grapplers right now and they are horrible on the wear. i have 10k on them and they are already under half tread and thats following the rotation schedule. im not happy with them at all being they have a 50,000 mile warranty.

I have pro comps on my truck 33 12.5 17 and i get a bad shake with them and have tried everything they in my book suck and were alot of $$$$$ i HAVE A BUDDY THAT RUNS nittos and they seem very smooth may have to try them
