Trailer Tire Recomendation
Can anyone guide me to a better sorce for trailer tires? I checked Tirerack.com for new tires for my 5er and they only have 2 choices and one of those is the exact same tire i have that failed early.
I have Goodyear Marathon 205 75 R15 load range C and I need the same size in a load range D. These tires are rated for 1820 lbs, theres 4 of them and my 5er weighs in at about 9k lbs. That to me doesn't sound like good math so i want a load range D tire rated for around 2400 lbs. but I can't find that size with those specs. I do not want the same tire brand i don't think as these are only 2 year old tires with probably less than 5k miles on them and one of them is giving birth to a goose egg on the sidewall - at least it made it home Monday. "give:
Any help would be appreciated.

Good luck, I've never seen a D range in a 205. If you go to a 225 which is 1 inch bigger in diameter you can get a few different brands like Goodyear and Michelin. Just have to check and make sure you have the clearance. In every RV I've come across there is plenty of room to step up but I'm by know means an RV expert though.

Yep.
28 inch outside diameter
8 1/2 side wall width
2540 pound load range
Your current tire is
27 inch outside diameter
8 inch side wall width
1820 pound load range
This is for the Goodyear LT or ST tread pattern. Michelin also makes a good tire in these sizes but I don't have the specs for them here handy.

Should be plenty of room. Your not addin much weight when you pack these things up, most of the weight is the trailer and permanent components anyway, so where it's sittin now is probably within a 1/2 or so of where it rides anyway. Don't take my word for it though, I would check with the maufacturer websight and they should give you the specs and optional tire sizes. I would bet that these 225 are probably an available option on your RV anyway.
