Default Much needed new rubber

Went from 305 AT's to 315 MT's. Really liking the more aggressive look of the truck now.

Tires are Toyo Open Country MTs, size LT315/70R16 and the wheels are 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic IIs. I got a little bit of rub at full lock exiting the parking lot but so far so good with just a 2" front leveler. Now looks like its time to recalibrate the speedo.

The dealer was able to reprogram my speedo for the 315's on my 04.5 Dodge. I think it was $50.

Well, I always expect 30K+ out of a set of tires. I'm not too picky beyond that because I actually like putting on some new shoes and I don't put a lot of miles on my truck. To recalibrate the speedo, all you have to do is take it to the dealer and let them reflash it to compensate for the larger tires. I'm actually debating now on whether or not to do this. Reason is, I'm not sure I will stay with the 315s. I really like the way they look, but I don't like the way they are currently rubbing the inner fenderwell at full lock and I'm not liking the solution of trimming fenders or adding more lift. I'm actually already leaning toward going back to 305s. I really liked my 305 ATs. They looked great and fit with no rubbing at all. So, after I rack up another 30K miles, it looks like I may end up on 305 MTs.

Haven't taken the truck down the highway yet, just around town. They are no louder than the ATs they replaced around town and I've heard that they aren't bad on the highway either for an MT. To be honest, the noise doesn't bother me since the truck is pretty loud already. The main reason I went with MT is I live in an area where mud and snow traction is a big benefit over the AT.

UPDATE:

I love these tires but can't stand the fact that they rub my inner fenderwells and the pinchweld on the fender if I go to full lock. I've considered all my options: 1) more lift; 2) new wheels with more backspacing; 3) cutting/trimming the fenders; 4) go back to 305's; or 5) let em rub. Letting the rub is out, can't stand to drive around town like that. Lifting is out, this truck is tall enough as it is. New wheels are expensive and I really like these wheels. I seriously considered trimming the fenders and spoke to a couple of auto body guys about doing this. I've had numerous Jeeps in the past and I'm comfy with cutting sheetmetal too. But on this particular truck, its not that easy of a job and it gets really expensive to do and keep the truck from looking hacked up. Plus, I'd like to put on some fender flares at some point in the future since the width of these tires throw all kinds of crap up on the truck and that would be really hard to do after cutting the fenders.

So today I made the decision to bite the bullet and go back down to the 305s. Going into Les Schwab on Friday to have them swapped out. They are going to give me some credit on the 315s since I literally only have about 250 miles on them (thanks to a completely unrelated fuel leak issue that has kept me down for the cold weather). As an after thought, I figured I'd give others out there who are thinking about going up to 315s on 2nd gen Dodges a little more to think about. Yes, these tires may still fit but take a look at your backspacing. I have 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels that have 4" of backspacing. I can tell you from personal experience now that its not enough backspacing to keep 315s out of the fenders with only a leveler kit on the front. But I've also heard that too much backspacing will make them rub on the control arm. I don't know if that's the case because that's not my situation but its something worth considering as well. I'm going back to 305s because I know for a fact that they will work on my truck with the wheels I'm running. I will post pics after I get them swapped out.
