Default Ford drive-train ?

I've got an '06 F-250 4x4 . When I put it in 4x4 and am trying to turn slowly then drive-train binds pretty bad - so bad that it actually bounces the truck . Is this a normal condition ? Does it bind all the time , and i haven't noticed it driving down the road ?If so will it prematurely wear out my tires?

Sounds normal if you're on a surface with traction. You don't want to be in 4x4 if so, it's very hard on the transfer case.
