So Since The "New Truck" Is Finished....
they have been on there since friday. got to get them rebalanced for the 3rd time when i get back in town. i'll take some pics as it looks like it has 8-10 inches of fender gap..... hopefully i can get it lowered this weekend.....
well here is the story...... bear with me folks. i went to my friends shop to get them installed. him and his wife took an adult only weekend that they truely needed and it was her birthday so neither of them were there. an employee that is good mounted the first tire and scratched the wheel. i was pissed, he was pissed cause he knows the owner is gonna make him pay for it, anyway that is a whole nother story...... he balances them on his balancer, they have 3 guys, 3 machines, and 3 balancers. this guy does 75% of all my jobs and i've NEVER had a problem with balance etc so i let him do it and didn't worry. looked over and the first one said it was 6.50oz out i was like
but they are heavy wheels and tires and they are made in china and i'm not a tire guy so what do i know
he does the other 5, both fronts took 6+oz and the rears took like 2.5 or so each. took it buzzed down the main road up to ~ 50 or so in a 35 and all felt good. he static balanced them that time. later on that day i went out and handed a friend of mine his
in his F-550 and at 60-90 i thought the truck had slung a rod out or something cause my dash was shaking, my hood was shaking nothing in the cab was still.... i at one time thought it was having a seizure......
get my friend in the 550 to look at the wheels while the truck was shaking and saw 1 that visably shook. i took it back the next day, told them what was up and one of the other guys balanced them on the brand new machine doing a dynamic balance (he is a new guy there and about as sharp as a marble) anyway he throws it on the balancer (with the old weights on there still) and it says it's like 8oz out total.... i was like
again.... i watched him put over 9oz of weights, 7.5 were completely 180* out from the 6.5 that had been put on the day before. i didn't say anything cause they were looking for a reason to can him...... he did all my rims like that, added to the already there weight. used up over 4 pounds of stick on weights, (that eventually came out of his paycheck) i went for a drive and the shake is still there. not as severe but still there. i'm out of town so when i get back i'm gonna let the owner, my friend, see exactly what the guy did, prolly watch him get fired, get my wheels balanced my the owner and never have a problem with them again.
they look sweet, the centercap is nothing like it
looks
in any picture online, got to take care of some final details that the chinese forgot to do with the rims, i'll show pics later on when i get home of the details.
all in all my bank account is almost empty but it was WELL worth it.... now to lower it....

I was seriously looking at those rims but in chrome... were cheap on e-bay. I have my Alcoa's bead/sand balanced. They might shake for a mile or so when it's really cold, like -20 or better, but after that it's fine. Something to think about, a lot cheaper than centramatic's.
sounds like your friend needs to get his head out of his *** and hire some decent guys........you pay $8.00 an hour and you get $8.00 help.......ive worked at several tire shops and that is the truth........
took these today before i started mowing the grass..... went and got them re-balanced today and they took ~16oz off each of the front wheels, put 3oz back on and all rides good.....
here are some pics....

now to lower it.....
