Installing RC 6" Suspension Lift 95 Chevy K2500
I purchased a Rough Country 6" Suspension lift. I decided to take on the project my self and had some questions. Here's what I've done so far;
Day 1: Got the torsion bars unloaded, cross member removed, brakes off, hub nuts off, tie rod ends off (both outters bad, replacing both inners and outters)
Questions:
Going to attempt to remove the torsion bars from the cross member first tomorrow, pretty rusty, any tips? Also, it looks as if i dont need to break the ball joints, could I not just unbolt the upper and lower control arms, remove the cv axle, shock, sway bar and drop the whole thing? Seems easier to me, trying to avoid drilling out the rivits on the ball joint until its bad, looks to be in good shape still.

Update
Day 2: Still no luck breaking the torsion bars free of the crossmember or control arms. Control arms are dropped, shocks out, bump stops cut off, swaybar links out, tie rods off. Removed each side as one whole piece, didnt remove the ball joints and havent encountered any problems. If i cant budge the torsion bars im going to cut the keys and replace them, Im tired of f***ing around.

Lifts all together, only took a week, haha. Couple minor things to do still, have to drop the crossover pipe to clear the front drive shaft, think i'm gonna cut both sides and slap a coupler on both sides, should give me enough clearance. Front u joint was shot, almost no needle bearings left, both outter tie rod ends were shot, bought new inners, outters and adjustment sleeves for both sides, new sway bar end links, basically a whole new front end. Pics will be up soon
