Default free spin kit

Ive been wanting to put a Dynotrac free spin kit on my dodge 2500 for some time now. I was curious if anyone has run them and how they work. I was talking to a friend of mine about this and he said that the spindle off a 79 ford axle will bolt in and do the same thing for much cheaper. Has anyone else has done this with success. Any input is appreciated
