Default RPM's Racing What Should I Run?

I ran my 01 Dodge 2500 Cummins 5sp down the 1/8 mile. I know I would do better with an auto but I don't, I've got a standard. I'm starting in 2nd, cause 1st is to low, shifting at 2,900-3 and have no mod's. anybody have great things to say about the shorter throw shifter. Am I pushing the rpm's too much? Or not enough? And how much HP can you push on a normal clutch, when is a dual plate the plan of action?

the stock clutch id say can hold 50-100 hp over stock depends on how you drive, i would get a south bend dual disc as soon as you have the money, you may not need it right now but once you get that its BOMBS away and you dont have to worry about it.
Shifting at 2900-3 k is fine, id recommend some guages though to watch egts and such.
if you dont have any chips on the truck its probably defueling at 2700 rpms so your really not pullin much more power out of the engine by going to 3000. a boost fooler would help, mine will go up over 3k if i want to i have the BD boost fooler its like 65 bucks so its not a bad investment.

I think a few guys here have the short shifters, i heard the only problem is they pop out of gear easy.

Guages first, fuel box/chip second, after clutch starts slippin dual disc third.
