As the title says I'm looking to add to my arsenal, and zombie apocalypse cache of weapons. I was thinking an ar-15, don't know what brand I want, or options. Is gas powered better? Any certain brands that are better than others? I really would like to stay in the 800-1300 range of price. Heck I may even just buy a regular old bolt action .223 haven't deided just trying to get input.

Piston operated cleaner and cooler running than gas but more expensive, you'll have to look around for deals. If you decide to go the bolt action route check out the Mossberg MVP. It's a. 223 that uses AR15 magazines.

Looks pretty cool, but heavy. Running and gunning for Zombies will wear you out with ths heavy piece.

Get a Rock River Arms. Best .223 for the money, around 1100$ so a little on the higher end of your range. Very reliable, shoots great.

Ummm no, not a high end and by far not the best AR for the money, not even close...but they are a middle of the pack AR, you can buy better cheaper if you know what you are looking for.
