taurus model 66
anybody had any experience with one of these. i just picked one up from a buddy yesterday for 275. six shot, 4 inch barell, adjustable sights, blued with wood grips. i havent shot it yet. like new in the box. let me know what ya think.
Out of all the Taurus revolvers I've had and have, I've only sent one back. It was repaired free and I still have it. You do need to be careful with the real old (early) ones. They were still on their learning curve.
Prior to the early 90s, they didn't have their metallurgy down and the metal was too soft.
The one I had to send back was mfg in the late 90s. Had 1 cylinder slightly out of sink. It is a mdl 85 that I still have and use for my carry revolver. That reliable.

I've had a 669 (same frame but with a 6-inch ported barrel) for about 15 years now. It's digested thousands of rounds. Everything from 148 grain, 600 fps .38 special wad-cutters to full-house 158 gr XTP's at 1350 fps. Never a problem and damned accurate to boot! It's starting to loosen up just a bit (still not shaving any lead though), but I feel ANY brand revolver would be at this point. My gunsmith said if it got too loose, Taurus would put it back to factory spec under thier warranty. No complaints at all.
