In reality, that's not gonna happen with anything short of a high-powered rifle. I've sent hollow-point pistol bullets (300 grn Hornady XTP's @ 2400 fps at the muzzle, Savage smokeless powder muzzle-loader) clean through our big white-tail deer here and the exit wound is still only the size of your thumb. Not even deer slugs will do it. Now drop to a .30 cal bullet, cut the bullet weight in half and up the velocity to about 3500 fps and it's a whole other ball game! It'll knock holes the size of baseballs through a critter. The flesh just can't get out of the way fast enough.

BTW. That's one of the loads I made up for my .300 Weatherby Magnum. It produces nearly 50 ft-lbs of recoil in a 9 pound rifle. No concealable handgun would ever be able to come close to matching that kind of tissue damage. Physics won't allow it.
I think this handgun could do alot of damage S&W 500 MAGNUM a 50 caliber with HORNADY XTP 350 gr. going at 1950 FPS.

I should have been more specific. Most center mass (which is were your trained to shoot in a SD situation, right?) GSW's with a typical SD type gun, (for arguments sake I'll say .45 and down) don't usually bleed externally much. Its the internal problems they cause that incapacitate the victim. Aside from that the human body can lose ALOT of blood and still function long enough to do harm to you, also a little blood goes a LONG way. If you shooting t make someone bleed out and die... well... your gonna be there a while.

Its amazing what the human body will do. I tool a guy to the hospital that put a 12ga in his mouth and pulled the trigger, draw a line from the corner of you mouth across the top of your ears... Everything above that line was gone. He lived all the way to the hospital and lived a few days on life support. Amazing how the body will react sometimes.

It is, and if you really think you will hit a T-shot or a head shot in a SHTF personal defense situation, well... Your probably gonna get your feelings hurt. I'm sure your a great shot, but when a target is running at you, moving around, your adrenaline is pumping, and the pressure is on... Well, I hope you get that head shot.

In the class I took the officer told us a story about a guy who took 4 .45 rounds to the head and still killed the good guy shooting him.

Again, the human body is a odd thing.

I'm sure everyone remembers when the Police Depts moved up from 9mm to .40's and .45's because they were emptying magazines into people and not stopping them, well its still happening with .40's and .45's.

RIDICULOUS. EVERY gun expert on the INTERNET knows a .45 will STOP an ELEPHANT with a SINGLE SHOT to the occipital LOBE? which ANY GOOD shot can HIT EVERY TIME in ANY situation!!!!! ARE YOU STUPID?

It left a 44 caliber sized hole in his chest....and again in his heart......he died after a couple days....nobody ever found the bullet, but it never looked like it expanded at all.....

See it a few times....but the people were brain dead and never put on life support of any kind..

The medulla oblongata can & sometimes will keep going long after the rest of the brain is dead and at room temp....

Had a young guy hang himself....he was brain dead....but the medulla kept him going and family though he would survive and recover....

When I was a young, dumb and......along with being a military cop....attended a street survival seminar, in the book this picture, guy shot to doll rags & it still took 3 12ga slugs to bleed him out...he was dead, blind, heart turned to mush...both wrists broken...but trying to reload his revolver to shoot at the cops that killed him.

He was on angel dust....
