Funny how most of you guys think you need a JHP to put a scumbag down Hollow-points didn't come out until the late 60's(I think it was 1969) But dirtbag have been dying from gunshot over 500 years Which is actually better a bullet that only goes 5 to 8 inches an mushroom or a bullet that goes thur the ******* You don't see any HOLLOW-POINT hunting bullets for big game

 

I have. Winchester makes them. My brother got some for his 7mm. Saw them in .308 and .270 as well.

 

A bullet that does not fully penetrate a target has giving ALL the energy it has to that target, a bullet that passes through does not, basic physics. With that said,youe need enough penetration to get to something that will do real damage. Sometimes JHP is the best way, sometimes FMJ is the best way due to cover and target makeup. A HP will cause MUCH more severe wound tracks then a FMJ when it expands into a target properly, this is not speculation, I have seen the difference first hand enough times. A JHP will give you more then enough penetration to kill. Also combining a rifle ball to a handgun load is apples to oranges, remember, speed kills.

And As for the 500 years thing.... The model T used to be the cats meow too....

And that's why I like knives. With a gunshot wound you're
kind of left wondering how he's doing. All you see is a
little hole and 10 drops of blood.
Now with a good knife wound you can easily monitor
their troubles from the faucet you have just given them.

 

oh you mean in and out. Ever seen a gunshoot wound? Usually not much external bleeding.

 

Considering nothing more than wound channels and blood loss, the perfect compromise would be a hollow-point bullet fired from a gun with enough ***/velocity to throw it clean through a feller. Let the bullet expand then knock a fist-sized hole out the other side of him!

In reality, that's not gonna happen with anything short of a high-powered rifle. I've sent hollow-point pistol bullets (300 grn Hornady XTP's @ 2400 fps at the muzzle, Savage smokeless powder muzzle-loader) clean through our big white-tail deer here and the exit wound is still only the size of your thumb. Not even deer slugs will do it. Now drop to a .30 cal bullet, cut the bullet weight in half and up the velocity to about 3500 fps and it's a whole other ball game! It'll knock holes the size of baseballs through a critter. The flesh just can't get out of the way fast enough.

BTW. That's one of the loads I made up for my .300 Weatherby Magnum. It produces nearly 50 ft-lbs of recoil in a 9 pound rifle. No concealable handgun would ever be able to come close to matching that kind of tissue damage. Physics won't allow it.

 

Strange, I've seen GSW's with almost no blood...and some that looked like a slaughterhouse...

Have seen GSW's where the exit wound was a small hole & a couple where it looked like a baseball came flying out...lots of gore...

No 2 GSW's I've seen are/were the same....so many variables it's impossible to know exactly what a bullet will do...thus ya have to make a guess and go with what you think...or feel is the best deal........

However, I was suprised the 40 cal short and weak to the heart did not kill they guy right there & that he lived at least 30 min after taking a hollow point to the heart out of a Glock...
