ive got alot heres a couple for ya.

my mom dad and i were at our lease in south texas to dove hunt before deer season started and so we could get the lay of the land a little better (we had only been there 3 times) well we didnt see any dove on the morning hunt so we gave that up at about 845 or so and decided to go check our feeders and to make sure everything was workin right for deer season. rather than driving 5 min from the back of this stand through a rough trail we decided to just walk the 100 yrds from the stand to the feeder. we had to cross a small wash so my dad goes then i go then my mom starts screaming SNAKE!!!!!!!! me and my dad turn around to look for it but we cant see anything. my mom screams its right (bad word) there how can u not (bad word) see it. finally she picks up a rock and tosses it at the damn snake and we see it...by this time my 10 year old self is up ontop of the feeder hiding and i see my dad pick up a log to beat the snake to death. turns out the log was rotten. now we have a pissed of snake rattling its but off at us trying to figure out if it wants to kill my mom or my dad. well my mom in her amazing mind thought it would be a good idea to get my dad a wepon out of the truck. in the mean time my dad is beating this snake with another log he found. my mom gets back with a 2 foot long pice of rebar...

CLASS STARTING ILL END THE STORY LATER

ok hunting story part 2

well after finally finding a big non rotten branch my father kills the snake then drives a piece of rebar through the back of its head just to be sure that its dead. well after the great war is over we start to look down and we can see a perfect imprint of where the snake was and not a foot away was the boot marks where me any my dad stepped. we were within a foot of a 3 foot rattle snake and the only thing that kept us from getting bitten on the way back was my mothers sun glasses (we think the polorizerd lenses helped her to see the snake)

I went deer hunting this year too. Our hunt was only 5 days this year so the first two were dedicated to a trophy with the remaining weekdays dedicated to shooting the first decent buck for freezer meat. Well on the 3rd day I was watching a hillside full of does along with a bunch of other desperate hunters (off the dirt 4wheeler trail)

I was getting pissed that I hadn't seen anything bigger than ones who barely lost their spots. Well after some glassing I spotted a buck who had a rack a little past his ears. I figured "why the hell not" So I shut the 4wheeler off and walked down the hill away from the road when the bastard started heading up the hill he was on. I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. (My thing is if it isn't a wall hanger it gets shot in the head) I stopped walking and threw my gun up and BANG he went down like a ton of "poop". Thats when I decided to range him, 290yds. Not too far but a fair distance.

Now the work begins and I start kicking myself for shooting him on that steep hill with 8" of snow. I head down my side to him. Once I gutted him I decided I wasn't going to quarter him out cause it "isn't THAT far." Well a couple hrs later I got him on the wheeler and headed back to the truck.

Well, I decided to european mount this guy cause he'd look cool over my leather working bench. That's when I found the spot I shot him. Right in the spot I was aiming, the back of the head . I found the bullet between his eye and nose on the side of his snout. It broke the skin but still stayed in there. Needless to say his euro mount looks a little funny with chunks of skull missing. But just knowing I can pull the ol .270 out of the safe after not shooting it in 2yrs and it's still "ol reliable" is a good feeling.

I took my Texas buddy to Colorado for a elk hunt even tho he said he had a cold and we were sitting in my truck to keep him warm and waiting for the sun to rise and I told him that I had shot 2 elk and a big buck from this same spot over the last 5 years. it started to get a glow over the mountain and i told him there was a elk across the canyon from us but he could not see it yet so I got out and took aim when it got a little lighter out, with it in my sites I hear mu buddy tap on the window and say wait till I get out and get my rifle on him too, ha ha. the elk heard him too!! so up the mountain it ran but I got it any way at 250 yards up hill. I never got to hunt with him again because the cold he had turned out to be cancer and took him shortly after, so charish even the goofy hunts as it might be the last one some one takes. RIP MIKE
