Default AR-15, AR-10, or Tikka T3 Tactical?

Well, I'm thinking that once I sell the 98, I'm gonna be looking for a new gun. I have 800 yards to shoot out to at the cabin, and I don't think a AR15 would be good for much besides fun since I already have the 17HMR (which is soooo much cheaper to shoot). Sure, it'll take fox or coyote, but so will the 17HMR to 200+ yards.

So I'm liking the weight and ballistics of the .308 (yes, I already have one, but my buddy wants to buy it for his kid). I'm just stuck between an AR-10 and the Tactical T3 from Tikka (gotten great reviews). The Tikka won't burn through as much ammo, and will be more accurate, but the AR will be a lot more fun, and more useful when the zombies come .

So, I know gunman will chime in, but what do the rest of you think... Which would you get? And why?

Out of those three I would have to choose the AR-10.
I would get the Armalite AR-10TBNF338 with optional scope.

The AR-10 would be the better all around weapon, since it has most of the features the other two have. The T3 does weight a little less then the AR-10, The AR-10 weights 9 lbs with the scope, and the T3 weights 8 (I think)

Now the AR-10TBNF338 shoots a .338 fed round, not sure if you are wanting to stick with the .308, if you are only wanting a .308 rd, I would go with AR-10TNF

Just my 2 cents

Yeah, the problem with .338 is ammo is way more expensive, and harder to find. The other problem with the AR-10 is the amount of ammo I'd go through! LOL...

I just found a nice Winnie 308 Varmint that I might pick up, we'll see how the price works out. I really prefer a detachable mag, but a hinged floorplate will be ok...

I reload all my ammo, so it is a lot cheaper.

The Winnie 308 Varmint is nice, if you can get a good deal on that I would go with that one. But that is me, since I already have an M4.

OK here I go, First off I would go with the .308, cause you can find it anywhere, cheaper round to buy, & you can even reload AP bullets, less recoil then the .338, Now if you want a bolt-rifle, great for sniping, BUT an AR-10 will be an accurate rifle, plus you can laid down the fire-power if need be, also there are end-less option you can get PLEASE think of the future, you can always get a hunting rifle, but will you always be able to get an assult rifle ????

Thats true about the SA... I thought of that at first and forgot all about it. Well if I don't like this Winnie I'll be going with the AR-10.

I would get the Tikka myself. Its an amazing looking weapon and you can get it in 308 which is obviously a proven round, and you said before you reload yourself dont you? So that would save a little more as well as keeping great consistency out to long ranges. AR10's and 15's are cool but I'm more of a bolt action guy myself, I like to play sniper every now and then....Either way, whatever you get it's still going to be a blast to shoot!

Get the AR-10 or AR-15 because you might not be able to get them in the future. If you want the .308 then get it but you will be able to get bolt actions, but you might be able to get semi-auto "assualt rifle"

Well I just bought an AR15 receiver, gonna build one up for now. Still looking at the Winnie M70, mostly because its a good price.

I'll build an AR-10 sooner or later, but man are mags expensive for those things. BTW, anyone have any P-Mags?
