HOW do you carry??

curious how everybody who has permits are carrying their weapons....:pc:

i have a conceled holster that clips in the inside of the waist of my jeans, in the small of my back. It holds a Barretta Tomcat 380. If i'm not carrying it there, i have my 44 mag Taurus in my truck with me...can't really conceal it on my person.

Heres the holster i have for the tomcat...

Johnny Cetane 04-19-2007 08:28 AM

that's a nice little setup. my .44 rarely see the shoulder holster i bought for it either. used to wear that up at the cabin before i bought the beretta. got clumsy pretty quick. i did buy a nice thigh holster for the 44 tho. made life alot easier.

Yeah, i have a shoulder holster for the 44 as well, i use it when i'm out hunting...killed my last good deer with it at about 3 yards. But as you said, its a bit cumbersome for everyday concealment

nicelol

here's a funny and kinda scary story to go along with carrying...

father in law and i were up at the cabin playing with the guns when the one and only police officer in the area decides to stop in and tell us about the new atv laws cuz he saw our trailers. (he had never met the FIL and me before) the way the cabin is set up, u park in the front and the range, fire pit, etc is in back. well the officer comes around the corner and sees me standing there with my .40 on my shoulder, .44 on my leg, FIL has his 10mm on his shoulder, plus the 2 12 gauges and 2 .22 rifles on the picnic table. the man absolutely froze in his tracks and for the first time in my life i saw wut fear looks like in someone's eyes. the FIL and i kinda froze too and just put our hands out so he could see them. the few seconds felt like forever but we just followed his lead and shortly we were bs'ing with him and laughing about the whole deal.

CHenry 04-19-2007 09:50 AM

Gotta love those awkward moments where guns are involved...

depending on what i am wearing i either have my 380 or my 9mm on my belt or i have my 9mm in my shoulder harness......i am never without 1...

Ram04SLT 04-20-2007 02:07 PM

How about DISCRETLY:ok:

gstanfield 04-20-2007 07:18 PM

it really depends on which gun I'm carrying and what I'm wearing. I will say that I have all of the above and pracitce a lot with each. My carry guns range from a Berretta 25ACP to my full size 1911.

But yes, discretly is the best answer :)

George

We ran a self inflicted gunshot to the head, guy tried killing himself with a Beretta .25.

The bullet did not penetrate the base of the skull & when we were examining the wound the bullet actually was stuck in the skin & fell out.

Guy walked out of the ER less than 1 hour later & went to the BHS locked down unit.

Ramprat 04-22-2007 10:13 AM

All depends on what I'm packing.

I've got a customized 1911 that sits in a Rosen ARG, but lately I've taken to packing either the Sig 239 in a Rosen belt holster (the one with belt snaps), the G-19 beater pistol in a kydex holster or the S&W 442 in a Kramer pocket holster.

Thinking about getting a Alessi shoulder holster for the Sig 229 and possibly an Alessi ankle holster for the 442.

Looking round for a fanny pack that does not scream ambiguously gay (I am in Wyoming after all) for the 229 & possibly a couple other holsters for my fat azz.

Dieseldood 04-22-2007 04:26 PM

I've got a Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded Champion. I carry 90% of the time. Either strong side OWB or SOB IWB. Yes Same holster.

It's a K&D Holsters Cochise Defender.

no permiteither ,next to impossable to get one calif,i always have a firearm with me.my 1911 45 normally, when im out fishing on my boat i have a mossberg 500 ss,if that doesnt work i got a flare gun lol.normally cary my 45 in a locked case in my tool box and ammo in glove box wich doesnt do me to much help.if iwant i can take my rifle or shotgun with me i have a gun rack in the back window of my quad cab.

jasonfriedlin 05-03-2007 08:31 PM

I keep mine in my glovebox, I'm usually in reach of the pickup. Do ya'll know they won't let us truck drivers carry, even with a permit in our home state. Whatever u do, if u r going to carry it on you all the time, u definitely need to be discreet. If not, people who don't know any better will call the law on u every time. I'm sure there will b a big gun debate goin on after the Va. Tech shootings which struck close to home for me.

sawyer45306 05-03-2007 08:55 PM

Man where do you all live that you have to CARRY like that. Shoot I hardly even own any guns let alone carry one with me daily.

jasonfriedlin 05-03-2007 09:01 PM

In Ohio, I figured those people would be almost as fast as Californians to call the man on you. Please do something with your truck speed limit, PLEASE

Oklahoma...and it don't matter where you are, the boogie man will find you.
I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

jfoose 05-04-2007 06:48 AM

Concealed carry is supposed to be just that... concealed. discreetly may not be enough, nobody should know you have it except for you. But I do agree with Chenry, judged rather than carried.

sawyer45306 05-04-2007 12:24 PM

I am not passing judgement on anyone at all,so please dont anyone feel offended by my comment. Its just I find it sad that we have to feel the need to be safe in this manner. I can say for the most part I feel safe here and I dont leave home each day worrying about stuff like that. Maybe I am just too trusting.

I have had a gun pointed at me while in a traffic jam by a dude behind me who was having a bad day and i was in his way with no where to go, i had my 9mm high power under the seat and I grabbed it but didn't show it to him. I was more afraid of killing someone than being shot at to be honest about it. I managed to cahnge lanes over a couple times and put some distance between us and he passed me pointing his weapon and I was ready to unload 13 rounds through his back glass if he fired once but he did not. The cops picked him up 4 miles up the road after I called them.
I went home and threw my underwear in the garbage and poured a big tall stiff drink...

but when confronted by an armed man, I want to be prepared.....

1- can't speak for anyone else but i wasn't offended at all.

2- IMHO safety is an illusion. u'll feel ur safest just before u become a statistic.

3- when i get the finances squared away i'll be getting a permit and all the training i can get with it. i don't want to ever even have to draw my weapon, let alone shoot somebody but the world's full of lunatics and maniacs and i'm going to do my best to afford myself and my family all the protection, in as many forms as it comes in, that i can get my hands on.

98.5HOTROD 05-04-2007 02:10 PM

Carry my titainium S&W 357 snub stuffed in my pants, gun only 12 ozs. At work I carry a SIG 220 ST 45 or my MP5.

jfoose 05-04-2007 05:56 PM

I have to agree with Chenry and johnnychimpo, I have been in a situation where I might have been forced to shoot a man in order to save my wife's life. I was able to talk him down, but my right hand was stuffed with my taurus .45 behind my back. You can be safe 364 days out of the year without the need for a firearm, and need it just once for milliseconds in order to save yourself or someone you love. If I had called the police in my situation they could have gotten there in time to call an ambulance had it gone the wrong way. I hope I am never forced to use a firearm to defend myself, but I will more than likely have one if I need to.

People nowadays are crazy, you've got kids who think there gangsters, people on drugs who will do anything to get the $2 in your pocket so they can by more, crazy people in traffic jams. I like knowing I can defend myself or other innocent people should the situation ever arise. I sure hope it never does, but the fact is, "Guns save lives."

When I think I need to ;)I carry my S&W airweight 38 in my pocket.

Xmidnite_riderx 05-23-2007 06:56 PM

personally i liked the M4 i carried in Kuwait and iraq, but since i am home i carry a springfield XD 40 in a kydex belt holster, when on the farm the kydex turns into a dropleg holster.

Once I get out of CA I will be getting a CC, better to have it and not need it then to well ya know...

smokeeaterlb7 06-30-2011 01:33 AM

depends on the gun i choose to carry and what i am wearing. I carry the smith air weight in an IWB either one of the glocks in either an OWB or ankle holster.

In US having guns are legal. No problems.:tu:

smokeeaterlb7 06-30-2011 05:51 PM

legal for most, illegal for some. but i think what was meant was for those who have a CCW.

Not at all, because Canada suck for carrying firearms! :dang:

Ramprat 06-30-2011 07:16 PM

As of tomorrow....1 July residents of Wyoming no longer need a concealed weapon permit to carry concealed...:jump::jump::jump::jump:

Rob_wells06 06-30-2011 08:31 PM

a little more then 2 years ago i was at a gas station while it was being robbed. i drew my glock 21 told the robber to get on the ground he came after me with the bat that he had already stuck the attendant with. shot him twice, 2 in the chest. he lived. barely. i think hes now in a wheelchair. now i carry my 3" mp4 with me at all times right in the swoll of my back.

side note great thing about texas when the cops showed up my weapon was on the counter unloaded with the slide back. got questioned at the station for 2 hours and got my gun back 3 days later. :rocking:

kingbrad89 06-30-2011 10:22 PM

HOW do you carry??

Keltec p3at .380 in an in the waistband holster in the summer, and Taurus pt740 slim .40 in a high rise "the holster store" holster in the winter. Nice thing about the keltec is I can wear basketball shorts and a tank top and still be completely concealed

cougar 07-10-2011 06:18 PM

SOB (small of the back). Some times pocket if I'm wearing a coat.
