Default Course In SMARTY Updates For Dummies

How bout a step by step guide on downloading updates for these things. I've been tryin but gettin no place quick. This one in particular is for a 1999 24V.

I downloaded a trial version of WinZip and it's installed and ready to go.

I saved the update file from the SMARTY site. http://madselectronics.com/downloadf...3V126CDR12A.7z

From there I can't make anything happen. And do I need to return the truck back to stock setting before I do this update or can it stay where it is.

First thing is you should make a new folder, save it to your desktop, then name it Smarty. Download the file to that folder, then right click and extract here. Should have a new file ending in .smt, which is the one that you need to point the updater to. Set the updater in motion and in 5-7 minutes your Smarty should be good to go.

I don't get any "save to" options. Just "Open" or "Download" and it automatically puts it in my documents someplace. I have to use the search to find it but it's there. I have it in the Zip folder but can't get it to do anything from there.

Ok, now when you right click on the file in the Winzip program, click on extract. It should open up you Documents page. Right click on it, select new, then new folder. Rename it Smarty. Extract the file there and you should get a new file ending in .Smt

When the "open" or "download" window comes up there should be an option to where you want to save it to. Save it to the desktop and put it in the smarty folder or just save it to the smarty folder.

How I do it is.... after you have downloaded the 7-zip program, save the actual file on your desktop, then also download the tools" Smarty usb.exe, and cdm 2.04.16.zip" then right-click the file that you saved on your desktop, a new file should appear that ends in.smt instead of .7z if that works then bring up the Smarty usb tool with the big "send" button in the middle, on that screen click file, open find your file ending in .smt, plug in your Smarty, hit SEND and it should say (erasing memory please wait) let it finish and off you go!
