Hey There, I just aqquired a 1992 Dodge Ram D250 Cummins. I was looking for a Dually but they are hard to come by up here, and I got an AMAZING deal on this one.

I was just wondering what is involved in converting a single wheel rearend to dually. In Ontario, maximum width for a vehicle or trailer is 102" or 8.5ft. Would it be possible to bolt up a set of dually rims to the stock Dana 60? Not a big deal if they stick out more then a factory dually as long as they are within the law. I plan on having a set of custom fender flares made, so no need to worry there. If not possible and a "dually" rearend is needed, is the suspension the same as mine?

Finally, I am very impressed with the Cummins engine. Gobs of Torque and still averages 22-27mpg!!!

Is teh wheel mount to wheel mount distance different between the two axles?

 

So you are saying all I need is Dually rims to make it work? Is a Factory Dually Rearend narrower then a Single Wheeler? If so, by how much?

I think it is. I know teh cab/chassis dually axle is narrower then the standard pick-up dually axle, but I'm not sure on the dually to single mearsurments.

 

Yep the dually rear is widder. Your tires would hit teh springs if you just put teh wheels on your axle. You can get spacers (would not trust them towing heavy) or justswap in a dually rear. Also teh bed on teh dually's are cut different and teh flares wont just bolt up.

Thanks for the info! I will have to look into the strength of the spacers as I don't want to hurt the trucks towing capabilities. If the spacers won't do, then Dually Rearend it is!



Those were my exact words after about 10 minutes of trying to register a Username that wasn't already taken. LOL

 

All teh reading I have done says they are pretty good. I would call teh company and ask what the recomend for use though.
