in need of detailing and scratch removal help
my latest buy is a 2009 dodge qclb and the previous owner has had bushwacker fenders on it and are still currently on it. i do kindof like the look but it drives me absolutely crazy looking at where the fenders have rubbed and worn down the paint. as one of them has somehow dropped about 1/8 of an inch and i cant seem to get it back up. im wanting to pull them off and try and restore the paint a little. and then lay a strip of that clear vinyl stripping or whatever its made out of where the flares will rub. soo... what would recommend for a process and products for doing this paint restoration? thanks!! jarek

thats what i am afraid of.. i will try to get a pic up tomorrow. i was thinking clay bar, buff, maybe wet sand and see what that does. ive done it all before but i hate buffing and sanding. it scares me

well got the flares pulled off today and some of it i was able to buff out but there are quite a few spots where it was worn down to far.. im thinking instead of having it all repainted im going to try and find a shop that does good airbrush work and just have it touched up. does that sound like a descent idea? i dont need it to be 100% perfect just close as i am going to most likely put the flares back on but this time with a clear vinyl striping for protection like the previous owner should have done. im just try to take care of this problem now before it gets worse and that way later on down the line there wont be any rust problems.
