Default Want to Blackout

I'm looking to blackout my shiny stuff. My wheels are aluminum and have the coating on them where the metal festers if anything gets under it. So I'm thinking it may be time for my next bomb. I want to paint my chrome and polished aluminum black. There is some plastic, billet aluminum and chromed steel. Not sure what finish I'm after, flat, semi flat or gloss. If I'm after the flat do I use a flat clear coat, is there a such thing??

clearcoat is what gives it shine.. but your going to need to remove al the chrome and scuff up the plastic with scotchbrite at least..

clearcoat will not "keep" it from chipping..thats all prep. the better you prep the better the end product will be. painting over chrome can be difficult. you need to sand down to the nickel, scotchbrite will work fine on aluminum boxes and stuff. There is a flatening agent you put in the clear to make it flat, semi, or egg shell. depends how much you put in..thats if you are spraying out of a gun..i wouldnt suggest rattle can..
