so i finally got to the track......
i honestly wouldn't feel safe doing that..... maybe a 12 or 14" wide tire and wheel combo i'd do but a 6" wheel at that speed trying to get it to hook..... ya right.... when i painted the truck i had the outers off so it would fit in the shop and when we got done i took it for a spin with the outers off and it would roast the single off and that was stock..... let alone like it is now......
anyone know if Mickey Thompson or Nitto makes a 235/85 16 drag radial?

hmmm... Why would it not be safe? I bet it would roast the hell out the tires... When I was in high shool we swaped beds on a 4cyl ranger and while the bumper nad bed was off it whoul do awesome burnouts and wicked donuts!
"I" personally wouldn't feel safe doing it. there is a reason that 250 hp / 200 tq cars put the widest slicks and dragradials on their car. to make a safe pass or to be a safe driver on the road. i couldn't imagine trying to push a 7K # truck with 350-400hp / 700-800tq on a 7" tire that isn't rated for that speed to begin with....... when i went to get new tires after i painted it the inners were about bald and the outers had descent tread...... anyway.... i got my tire guy lookin for me some rims..... one of these days i'll get them......
yeah ben you need to hook yourself up with about a 16x10 rear wheel and run a dot legal racing slick like nitto has. if you don't mind a steel wheel i'm sure stockton wheel could build something up for you. can't say what it's cost but they have a really good reputation.
