Default Somehow I got Soot on my headliner

Don't ask me how, but I was cruisin with the rear jealousy window open with my old exhaust in the bed. I looked up at my overhead reading to see the temp and I notice there are small specks of soot all over my headliner.

Anyone know how I'm going to get this out?

Welcome.

First, don't smear it.
I had specks of graphite on a carpet and used one of those little vac's made for keyboards. Then applied product called Spot Shot. Spot Shot works great on most fabrics. Read the label...... But it works great!

I just used spot shot to clean up my dog's mess on the carpet and thought about it!

If you haven't gotten it yet... Here are two things you can try:

1. in a spray bottle mix 6parts water and 1part woolite. Spray on a towel and gently rub the headliner in one direction. turn towel, spray and do it again.

2.Get some "FOLEX" from your local home depot or lowes. Put on a towel and do the same as above.

I do a lot of auto detailing on the side for spare cash... these two cleaners work great on nasty headliners, and most other interior messes.

Thing to be careful of is not to saturate the headliner with anything. It's pretty delicate upholstery. If you rub too hard, you'll rub through it before you know that you were close to doing so.

As mentioned by Andy,

Be careful whatever you use, NOT to use a chemical that will soften the adhesive.

Stay away from resolve at all cost, I always recommend a dry cloth first on everything because if you get it wet with the wrong chemical you are going to activate a stain.
