local cummins dealer actually had it in stock! spendy as crap though... but oh well. only place is was being found in a hurry.

So i went out to change the fuel filter today in an effort to fix my fueling issues. and i start really looking over the injection pump and i start finding problems . 3 of the 4 bolts that hold the pump in place were all lose. i took them completely off with my fingers. and one was completely gone....

So im going to take a wild guess and say my pump timing is off hahaha.

Then i figure this would be a good time to finally install my gov spring, and bump the timing. then i realized the 4 bolts that hold the top of the injection pump on, are nearly stripped out. so that put a cramp on the gov spring install.

So decided im just going to pull the entire pump off, clean it up, do a little maintenance on it, install my spring and some new bolts, put it back on, bump the timing, and then we'll see if my lift pump is dead or not.

I've got the pump ready to pull, but left it in the truck for the night. I'll pull it out tomorrow when i can see my self drop the keyway into the front case haha. hope for the best tomorrow..

so i pulled the pump, installed my 3200 spring, replaced some bolts and cleaned it up. put it back in, bumped hte timing 1/8th andddd it still wont fire.. I can not get fuel to bleed at the fuel filter bleeder.

So i ordered some new stuff for the truck.

HVLP lift pump
5x12 Injectors
Wix Fuel filter w/o water sensor
banjo adapter bolt so i can finally hook up my Fuel Pressure Gauge.

hopefully it all gets here in a timely manner, and i can get my truck back on the road asap. really hope my truck of never ending problems, is finally getting to the end of its problems.... this is getting old.

as i await for parts, i decided to move onto another project. My stereo system clean up. When you have 4 speakers wired onto an amp, and 2 subs and another amp, theres a crap load of wiring running everywhere. and i hate wires, and a messy install. I was going to build a custom box, but i've decided against that for now. Just going to keep a clean set up.

So for anyone thats a little stereo dumb, heres a couple beginner tips.

First and foremost. AMPLIFIERS! if you want the absolute best sounding system, get a nice set of speakers, and amplify them. the deck wattage is just never enough! Doesnt matter how nice your deck is. quality products is everything, but the more watts your pumping out, the better yet. Im not talking just about bass here. The highs, the lows, the midrange, the clarity. everything sounds better. So amp for subs, amp for speakers, is step one. (picking the correct components is a whooole nother level)

My alpine amp is dedicated to my 4 6x9 kicker speakers
My Rockford is dedicated to the 2 kicker CVR subs.

use quality wires to prevent interference. again, quality is EVERYTHING. even down to the wires used.

i loom as many wires together as possible to keep things tidy, and then i run them under the amps for 2 reasons. keeping the amps elevated helps keep them cooler, and they aid in hiding a lot of wiring. Theres 25 seperate strands of wiring running to the two amps. Keeping everything like this makes it hard to tell theres so much wiring back here.

but thats still not clean enough for me. so my buddys wife made me this wood burned sign.

going to build a base around it for it to mount too, which will hide all my amps and wiring completely. It will just look like a big bulge in my back seat with a wood sign on it.

i may have just had the worst stuck injector in history! i was moments away from breaking out another grand and completely rebuilding my entire head.

my number 6, (or is it number 1?) injector was flat out stuck. we broke 2 injector pullers to start things off. then we broke out the slide hammer, and that did nothing but seperate teh injector at the threads.. flat out stripped the threads and seperated in half. Then we took a tap and tapped the bottom half of hte injector that was still stuck in the head, screwed a bolt into it, and did the slide hammer again. it finally came out. after the bolt slipped a couple more threads and jammed its self up in the injector. i think we spent about 3 hours on that one injector. was pure hell. and now the nut that tightens the injector down, gets tight before it ever touches the head... little worried about that. the threads all seem fine. but i cant get it to sit on the head. Its torqued to 50 lbs, and im going to try to fire it like that, but im completely expecting a nice leak there... so a head rebuild might still be in the near future.... anyways, still waiting on my lift pump to get here before i try to fire it up.

So cross one more small project off the list. The hole in the floor from the transfer case shifter was letting in fumes the lady was complaining about. and the one time it nearly swallowed my phone was enough to make me finally do something about it.

So took a old dirt bike tube and some gorilla tape, and went to town.

and i ripped her favorite pair of PJ's, so i thought i'd try to be nice and use the fabric in the truck. dont think it made things any better. shes still pissed off haha.

when i get new carpet in the truck, i'll actually make this look nice, and get a trim piece cut out so it looks factory. but for now, at least i wont lose any cell phones out the bottom and the fumes should be cut to a minimum. hopefully she'll have less to complain about now haha.

and still having serious issues with the truck, one being the head is damaged at the number 6 injector hole. So sending the truck into the diesel professionals at source automotive for a full head rebuild, and to fix my oil leaks and fueling isssues. better run liek a damn new truck when i get it back. im sure this is going to be spendy.
