Default New (To Us) Cummins!!!

Well Steph messed up... There was a 89 CTD sitting at a local dealer that was a trade in. I got talking to the salesman (the shop is on my tool route) and he told me he would take $3,800 for it from me well I told him I was not in the market for the truck but if they sent it to auction I would think about it before it went. I got home and told Steph all about it and got that look... You guys know the one.... Well she knows I really wanted a 1st gen so she said if I could get it for $2,500 I could have it... She thought there was no way (now this is the same way I got the 06 CTD, you think she would have learned by now).... Well the next week the guy told me $3,300... I told him all I had was $2,500... Got the whole "I have more then that into it"... told him OK and left... last week it was $2,800, I said that is still not $2,500 and I would think about it but probably not. Well this week I went in and guess what... $2,500 out the door. Not to bad if I say so myself!

Oh yeah and Ben... Steph said no she wont leave me for you... I asked buddy... Sorry

OK enough of that crap here are the specs...

89 CTD 4x4
169,000 miles

Body is in Great shape and very solid... paint is SHOT
Cop Light on the A-Piller (now I can shine it back at those bastards when they pull me over)

Here is the Plan...
Pulling/ half *** drag strip truck
Big Turbo
Big Injectors
As much as I can get out the VE pump (it is staying VE)
TC and VB and a prayer for the tranny
LOTS of NO2
Maybe a Powerstroke IC

plan on a head gasket, studs, and intercooler if you are wanting big power, go with a PDR HX35 with a 3 inch crossover tube if no intercooler is being used and make sure it is drilled and tapped for your nitrous and water ports cause you are going to need them.......talk to Begle he has a valve body for sale for like 110 bucks, which is well worth it.....first thing you do is all the modifications listed in my thread, then get some gauges, then put the 3200 RPM spring in it and grind or buy a fuel pin......also look into swapping those front lockouts to internals instead of the externals.......

I guess the head gasket shoul be up there... How much boost on a 1st Gen before it becomes an issue? And The intercooler is on th elist but not up to high... Hopeing to keep it cool with the drugs! It is just a 300ft truck! never to tow... I also don;t wanna hack up the core support... Want it to be as stock as can be... Hell Im thinking of leaving th epaint like that!

get a intercooled core support from a junk yard if ya can find it, not really necessary though with the water and nitrous.......boost has a ceiling of 30 pounds, guys will say 30-60.....NO.....dont try it just cause someone's uncle's best friend's sister's boyfriend said his lived......it wont......check with Luke at Diesel Dawg Performance - Diesel Dawg Performance and he can get great deals on Dynomite injectors......that is where i got my 3200 spring from and he treated me right......how many miles are on it??? is it in good shape and does the pump have all of the tamper covers on the screws, they look like little metal caps on the ends of the threaded rods.......also fix the KDP, its worth the few hours and 100 bucks to fix it.......

When y'all move up here you can come over and play with it all you want... The truck pulls around here let you enter the same truck all you want as long as it is a different driver. You help turn wrenches and you earn a chance to tear it up!

This thing has a dump bed on it, the whole bed tilts, has anyone ever put one on or takeing one off? The damn things are heavy and all the weight is in the wrong place so i want to remove it... How much of a pain in the *** is this?

I'd love to give you a hand with it. I never put on or took off a dump on a PU but I'm sure we could figure it out.

got a torch??? cut the bolts or welds and go from there.....while you got the bed off cut EVERYTHING off that isnt needed, all that extra steel and brackets from the factory need removed and it lets you hang ALOT more weight on the nose......save the cylinder and all the hydraulic stuff and resell it......that will buy ALOT of stuff......build a set of traction bars and some bump stops.......well you can pull 3 times if you can talk Steph into driving it..........
