Being a Shade Tree Mechanic Has It's Advantages
Like for instance, my dads 82 lost the headlights and the alternator wouldn't charge. He thought it was a fuse, but I knew instantly what the problem was. About a half hour to repair a bad terminal on the fused wires at the starter and away she went. Doing your own brake jobs, front end work, oil changes, most the stuff under the hood. Heck, I probably saved a ton of money doing work to my own vehicles along with my dads over the years. Yes, vehicle mechanics is one of many important skills to have.

Yes, at least I thought I have some skills.
Finding out that the modern full wired electronic controlled vehicles aren't serviceable without computer and diagnosis skills is a pain in the butt.
How can you work on a car without a tester to read the error memory. From there it is still not easy. 'cause the memory stores only the faulty readings, not the cause.
