New Ingersoll-Rand Impact - MADE IN CHINA!!!!
#12
You would be surprised on how much of the High quality tools are made in Tiwan and China... Very surprised. It's not the majority of them. But all the "name brand" guys have some tools (hand and other) that are madie over seas. Just being made there does not make them bad. As I stated... They are not bought from other countries, just made there. All teh Name brand stuff that is there is the EXACT same as if made here. Same Material... Same tolerances... Same product. Now all the CRAP that you buy at places like harbor fright, Northern and the such is just that Crap made in China.

I went on a rampage a few years back, I wasn't buyin nothin else made in China. The problem I ran into is that you can't not buy their crap. In most cases you can't buy anything that is not made in china. The final straw was a new Body Grinder. I couldn't find one in any brand at any price that was not made in china.

I finally decided to step up and buy a quality impact. I looked at a Chicago Pneumatic, NitroCat, SK, and Ingersoll-Rand. Based on knowledge that IR is a good brand, I picked up an IR 2130 composite 1/2" impact. I got it yesterday and there's a freaking sticker on top of the tool that says "Made for Ingersoll-Rand in CHINA". I was FURIOUS. This is a $200 gun!! I don't buy Chinese made tools. This one is definitely going back.
Does anyone know of a quality U.S.A. made impact? Are ALL of IR's impacts made in China? I would NEVER have suspected an IR tool to be made in China.

IR is still quality stuff i have a 14 year old 231 1/2 in drive and a 3/8 drive as well as a newer 3/4 composite, and i use them in the gas and oil fields, you can pour a pound of dirt in them and they keep on going, when i replace my old guns it will be with IR composits they are way harder hitting, and have the longivity, also mac tools guns are IR, cornwell sells IR , snap on is fine if you use them only in a shop with a good oiler and water seaperator system, but my hand tools are all snap on and cornwell, and old mac [ pre stanley buy out ] and stay away from anything they sell at harbour freight, unless your buying mag trays, spend your money once or spend often that is what it comes downs to, and what kind of application are you useing it for, if nothing else check out the pawn shops they have the older guns at times and the truck tool guys usally have a large box of old trade in you can get cheap,
