Default Custom Bumper/Grill guard

I've been looking for a Ranchhand brush/grill guard for about a year now and I either can't find them used at a good price or they are more expensive to me than i think they are worth...

My idea was to build my own bumper and grill guard in one... I can get powder coating done at cost once i'm done... I would just like some advice to get started, or advice to just save and buy one... What kind of design issues are most important when building it?.. And what thickness of metal is standard for everything? And overall how much of a hassle would it be (like a 1 to 10 scale)?

use 1/4 inch for mounting, 3/16 or smaller for the rest. make it out of cardboard first then use the cardboard for templates for the steel.
