Default Immobilizer Switch?

I have an idea that I'm not sure is entirely possible. I'd like to find a way to have an immobilizer switch, someway to be able to leave the truck running, but disable its ability to move if someone were to try and steal it.

Living in Minnesota, especially during the winter, I'm guilty of leaving the rig running while I run into the store to get smokes or pop or whatever. I figured with the fact that most of the newer trucks are almost entirely computerized, there would be a way to "switch off" its ability to move under its own power.

Specific rig is an 04.5 Ram with a 48re.

Any ideas?

Turbo Timer.......That way you can take the keys with you and lock the doors.

How would a person go about that? Set the temp real low so the egts wont ever get there and shut off the engine off?

The Turbo Temp Timer uses Time NOT Temp for shutdown....set it for 5 or 10 minutes and forget about it. These are user adjustable.
If you use a Turbo Temp Monitor then you would set a low temp and until the Thermocouple reached that Temp the truck would run. These are normally not user adjustable.

Hope this helps.

So then when you put the key back in, turn it to on, it stops the timer but the truck keeps running?

Hmm...

Yep...and mine is part of the Edge Juice/Attitude so 'if' someone actually smashed the window and tried to steal it, as soon as you step on the brake it shuts down...

Mine is temp or time controlled and I can adjust both

However on my 04.5 I would just use 2 sets of keys and lock the doors when I left it running...maybe not what you are looking for...

That's what I've started doing for now, but the idea of someone smashing the window had me thinking of something else.

A remote starter is perfect. Turn off truck, get what u need and on your way out or while still shopping start truck. If someone pushes brake it will shut off
