i use to run a 45 gallon tank under my tool box that i told them was to a pump out on a rig they never realized that it ran to my actual fuel tank, they never did check it though thankfully enough, but all i have ever heard of them checking is just the tank

i have heard there is a way for them to test the exhaust. I dont know if its true but the way it was explained to me was that the dye leaves a trace in the exhaust and will show up in a reaction like when you use litmus paper

Once again I do not know if its true or not.

DOT doesnt bother swabing the tanks anymore they just pull you fuel filter. i second dummy fuel filter in with diesel in it, that is first thing you see the other is hidded so when i do run died is virtually undetectable
