maybe i read something wrong but i thought he was asking about schools and personal experiences with them, not your friends friends who cant do brakes, and bachelors degrees that sit at a desk. i went to Nashville Auto Diesel College. it was ok teachers were good had years in the field they new theyre stuff. How much you learned depended on how much you paid attention and how much you asked. there were guys who would be better off working at walmart but they didnt want to learn anything. the city around the school sucked bums nasty hookers and noise was everywhere i would much rather be in the back 40, but im 22 and i make about 42,000 a year working on cummins and mercedes diesels, so i cant complain. about 30k for a year in school and i learned alot, got a degree in automotive and diesel technology but no matter where you go i garantee you will learn twice as much in the field oh yea p.s. enjoy your last year in school bc after it you gotta work and that just sucks

hope you like high tool bills, low pay, coming home greasy, and hating working on your **** anymore. i love diesels...but i work on rigs 40+ hrs a week....my trucks needed ball joints for 2 months...your best bet is to find a shop that will let you work a couple days a week with someone and see the REAL beauty, and not the dream shop side of things....then see where you want to go from there...its not for everyone, and you sound like me at your age....I can also tell you from exp, just because your got to school for something dont mean you will be worth a ****... not trying to be an *******, just saying theres more than it looks, go work at a shop before you make your decision...I cant say I hate my job because I dont, but its hard and sometimes not worth the money.
