He has a third gen with AAM diffs - they come with gaskets and yes, I believe they are reusable.

When I was younger, I did things myself to my vehicles... now though, I am a little more apprehensive about trying things.

I think I'll get in touch with Heath to order the 75-90 lube oil and give it a go. Whats the worst that can happen, I end up with a slippery driveway?

This really isn't that hard .

Pull all the bolts on your diff cover except the top one, just loosen that one a touch. Grab a screwdriver and slowly pry open the cover, oil will start pouring out. I put a magnet on the bottom of the center section, just to catch any material so I can inspect it. Once your oil flow starts to slow down, pull the top bolt, and pop off the cover. You'll be able to sop up the last bit of oil with a PIG mat, or something similar. Inspect your gears and diff for any damage or unusual wear. Scrape off the old gasket thats left on the mounting faces of the center section, and the cover, and clean them up with brake cleaner, or something else that doesn't leave a residue. DO NOT RE-USE THE STOCK GASKET! They're junk, plain and simple. Grab a tube of High Temp RTV (I use high temp just for overkill), and put a thin coat of rtv on the center section, just spread it on thin with your finger, then put a nice bead of RTV on the cover, and make sure you go 360* around each bolt hole (if you don't thats where it'll leak). By putting the thin film on the center section, and the bead on the pan it ensures a good seal. I've done this hundreds if not thousands of times working for Dana, and I've never had one leak (From the pan cover anyways... Front seals are a different story.

Pop the cover back on, and torque all the bolts to 15ft-lbs or so, too much more and you'll snap them off. Pull the plug and fill it up until it starts pouring out. Pop the plug back in and your done.

This takes me less than 15 minutes start to finish if its on a lift, about half an hour if I'm wrestling it on the ground.

I did this couple months back and for the sealant I used the permatex that you put in a cocking gun and it made it really easy and no leaks. they also sell the permatex in a can like cheese wiz but I can never use it again after first week even following directions. I picked up .75 mpg with this
