Most places will charge you to remove old tint, at least that has been my experience. You should be able to use an ammonia based window cleaner and it should start to dissolve the tints bond to the window.

yea, i just took off old tint from a window not long ago. i used Windex to soak it and then i got a razor blade scraper on it............ be careful though, you don't want to scratch your window!

Easiest way is using a steamer. There fairly cheap at walmart or where ever, just a regular steamer for clothes... Take a razor blade peel a corner, start steaming the glass keeping tension on the corner. And it will start releasing. Leaves very little, to no adheasive. Then just alcohol, razor blade and a clean micro fiber and its prepped for new tint

and as they are saying above^^^ no amonia, or windex on the new tint when cleaning... thats where fade and discoloring kicks in. I use johnson baby soap and water, mix it in a squirt bottle. it will last for many of cleanings

Using a steamer is the safest and best method. And to remove the excess glue, spray some WD40 and gently rub it using a fine steel wool.

Side windows our old tint guy peeled, sprayed with windex and cleaned with a razor blade (5 minute process) rear windows and windshields soak with windex and put a black trash bag over the tint and let it set in the sun for 1hr. The tint will basically fall off. No risk damaging the heater grids. Don't use wd40 it will trash the felt strips.

I my self have never heard of wd 40 either. X2 on the windex... some say the citrus is ok. Personally i only us the vinegar based, green label. Bust most of the time, Pure alcohol, it leaves no streaks and wont damage the new tint going on. Most the colored windex, has amonia in it. Tinting is like anything else. A good finished job all comes down to great prep work. I will take some pics tomorrow and post of my tint.
