Does anyone happen to have any kind of blueprint or anything for a dodge dually 8ft with a frame mounted gooseneck hitch? I'd like to get one on my truck and don't want to spend the money to buy one. I work in a fab shop so I got all the materials readily available I would just like some ideas possibly blueprints. Thanks for any input guys

I'm guessing most guys would not have blueprints.It really comes down to what truck you have and what would look best? personal preference.I would image search your truck and find three or four beds you like and create your own unique bed for your rig

 

My brother has a sharp looking flat/hauler bed on his 97 dodge dually. It is made by a professional company, but its flat plate and diamond plate steel. Shouldn't be hard to copy. Very stout bed.I can text pictures and dimensions if you don't mind pming your number to me.

 

Mine isn't completely done yet, but you may get an idea or 2... no blue prints either, sorry. Still have to finish, paint, and put on the side skirts, finish the wood for the inside, and finish the fuel filler.

 

Hey ole buddy, long time no talk. That's one of the best looking designs I have seen yet for a flat bed. I'll take any plans, measurements, pictures or measurements that you would care to share on this thing.

 

I actually don't have many measurements. We built the entire bed on the back of the truck and sorta added to it as we went along. The fenders were an afterthought, the extended rear end and side skirts were an afterthought too, haha. Also, since i bobbed the rear of the truck 7", my measurements would not be quiet the same as everyone else's.

When I am back working on the truck, I can get a rough measurement though. I will upload as many pictures as I can here...

Here you can see how we build the framework on the inside of the bed. We used 2x2" square tubing with 1/8" wall for the inside, the onto the perimeter we used 2x2 1/8" angle iron. On the angle iron we welded 6"x1/8" flat steel, which is what you see on the outside.










Once we had the frame of the bed made, I made up some bends that followed the body line pretty well in order to make the headache rack, which was made of the left over 2x2 tubing.








After all of that, we mocked up the fenders. The fenders are trailer fenders with a 31" radius, I believe. Cost about $50 each from a website. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have any pictures of the process of welding them in, but it's just a 3/4" flat piece run from the framework of the bed to the back side of the fender, then a bead laid on the INSIDE of the 6" flat side of the bed.


The side skirts are all hand formed sheet metal, which are yet unfinished, but here is the general idea of them.





Hopefully this helps some, sorry I don't have any true measurements. I am trying to remember them off the top of my head, but for accuracy's sake, I should go measure this weekend when I am back at my parent's house where the truck is.

 

Get on roadarmor.com and look at there bumper replacements I've seen some really good looking beds based on there bumpers mostly welding rigs but great looking beds

Thank you! Should be completing it here soon. Working on the wood for the bed at the moment, figuring out how to mount the fuel filler, then finishing up the side skirts and she should be good to go!

 

Yea I'm still drawin up ideas for mine. That is a pretty bad design though man good work
