Up 1996 Single Cab 2500. 4x4. All stock!

Hey guys!

I'm posting this up a little bit prematurely, because I really wanted to have it all painted one color before it sells, but I just wanted to get it noticed on the market ASAP...

I really need this truck sold soon... The wife and I are getting ready for a big out-of-the-country trip and I could really use the money, unfortunately. I had some cool ideas and goals for this truck, but I guess it just has to go.

I think I'm looking for around $4,000. No offer ignored!

I bought it about 4 months ago. Had "been sitting for about a year", he said. Nice honest guy. Owns a plumbing company.

Quick specs:
- 270k. Doesn't smoke!
- Recent trans. Drives great! (remember, stock engine, that's the key..)
- Recent turbo (NO play.)
- New headliner and new-old dash.
- Currently painting it white.
- Brand new STD bore Headgasket included. (read "The Bad:" \/\/\/ )
- Power Seats

As soon as I got it home I did the following:

- Oil change - 15w40
- Transmission filter and oil change ATF +4 (not a full flush, but 6 quarts worth of fluid.)
- Fuel Filter
- New headliner! (Old one was ripped out b/c of sagging.)
- Found a dashboard in a junkyard that only had a few cracks. Swapped over the harness. Cleaned everything under the dash and on the truck. Put some Plastic-Weld underside of the cracks. Sanded the top and painted it tan with vinyl/plastic paint. You can still the cracks, but at least it's all in one piece! (You should have seen the old one.. Ha!)
- Bought a bed tool box. Top needs to be riveted or glued back down. and the linkage that links the two locks together needs to be re-set. It opens when both latches are pulled. Not a high priority on my to-do list.
- Started painting it. I'm taking my time and rolling on the primer. It looks a lot better than the factory paint fading! ;-)
- Swapped out airboxes. Why? the old one had a hole cut in the intake tube for a HHO hose. I had another one laying around, so I just threw it on.

The Bad:

- One (1) hubcap is missing. (Front Right)
- In-dash cup holder. Doesn't have one.
- CLAIMED to have a bad headgasket. previous owner told me he "saw water coming out of the headgasket under the turbo manifold." However, I topped it off with water, drove it home (about 10 miles), ran GREAT- cept the idle needed to be adjusted (i did as soon as I got home), checked the water... no leak. Checked under the turbo manifold for leaks... it was dry as a bone. IDK what he was seeing. I bought a NEW headgasket just in case. It will be included.
- Tailgate is basically trashed. won't close. I'm not even going to bother painting it, ya know?
- Steering is loose. Surprise, surprise! ... from about 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock. Probly needs a stabilizer bar put on or new pittman arm (~$100)
- Needs a starter relay. Starter is currently setup with a momentary switch. I'm guessing the ignition is worn out (acc and ign still work, just the "start" ain't working) and that's why they removed the relay and did it this way.
- Front Bumper covers don't fit well.
- Dented bed on passenger side. Otherwise, pretty straight!
- Driver's side corner light. Needs one.
- Driver's seat is torn in the "slide out of the truck" area.
- Currently diagnosing the 4WD vacuum actuation system. I'm new to 4x4's, and apparently the front axle uses a vacuum & electrical switch to engage the front system. The vacuum hoses are all in place except for 1, which is coming up from the "pneumatic actuator" on the passenger side of the front axle (dunno what it's called exactly.) It's currently blocked off, and so is one of the ports on the vacuum lines. I was told (haven't checked it out, but the guy is honest.) that when these two connections are made, essentially- when the front 'pneumatic actuator' gets vacuum, it engages the front axle NO PROBLEM. but it stays in. Must unhook these lines to get it to disengage.

I'm being as honest about this truck as I possibly can. I aim to be as clear and concise as possible about the Pro's and Con's. I know it sucks to buy a vehicle and play the "guessing game." I'm sure the "bad" things here are stuff you guys probably have laying in your shops. I'm kinda new to Cummins (this is the second one I've owned), so I don't have a nice "stockpile" of spare parts... YET.

I'm in NW Florida (In between Pensecola and Tallahassee) and can deliver it within a few (hundred?) miles for some extra dough.

Mods,

Why am I unable to edit my original post?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Detailed the engine bay today.

Wirebrushed the exhaust manifold and turbine housing just to help it look better... Everything else got a bath with degreaser/cleaner.

Airbox and pipe were still drying, thus not pictured.
