i have all 3 keys, mounting plate and coin box

i plugged it in to a phone jack and nothing happened. i don't know much about these maybe it needs some type of additional power? soon as my buddy get come from camping i'm going to ask him he's a phone freak!
i was reading that they would not work properly with out a conversion kit any way.
so that may be the problem, since it has been sold to the public it may have been disabled?
this kit is basically phone internals should that mounts in a pay phone should clear up the problem with not working.

nope, but there's no dial tone or anything.. it's been probably a few years since i used a pay phone. shouldn't i still get a dial tone with out inserting any money?
i didn't know but maybe there might be more then just plugging it in to make it work?
there's gotta be a reason why the kits are made to use them at home right?

FYI those need a battery to operate, not sure on voltage off the top of my head..... my family has 15-20 of these and we are getting ready to pull them all down. noone uses them any more since cell phones are the new thing. these require software to program them to allow calls out to determine rather or not it is a long distance call and will require more money to make it than normal. Elcotel is the company to get the software through and IIRC it requires an FCC license to purchase since you are now a phone service re-seller...... if whoever buys this needs any parts, or has any questions feel free to message me and i'll help out all i can.

and for the record when those phones were new back in the late 90's they were over $1200 a piece, or $2000 installed with a phone podium......
