I spent all day trying to get this to fit in my 89. I don't know if it's a first gen thing or my 83 cab doesn't have the room. If you have a 1st gen and you are interested; I'll get measurements for you. I'm just frustrated and want to trade for an NV4500 or sell. I have everything to do the swap for the 5.9L cummins save for hydraulics, shifter, pto cover and yoke. Look at the pics and shoot me an offer. I'd like to get $1500 OBO or trade for a good working NV4500 (4wd or 2wd).

 

U may have to do a body lift or modify the tunnel to make it fit..... I have a nv4500 but the transfer case is broke in half(driveshaft fell out goin over rail road tracks)

These are the part numbers I got from it: : 47-16-1-1, 04-7-518-16, J11A, 3931713

I'm not sure if it is direct or not. It is sitting under the truck now out of the weather. I can let you know if those part numbers don't tell you anything.

 

There should be a large tag, or plate on the transmission with a series of letters and numbers.
Something like FS160-18 or similar.
Not necessarily THOSE numbers, but a similar layout.

It's been ground off. I can see the outline of the plate and the grind marks where it was attached.
