You do realize that a BOV doesn't quite work the same on a diesel as it does on a gasser, right?

The reason a BOV is needed on gasser is because of the butterfly on the throttle body slamming shut when you get out of the throttle and the air having no where to go.

Diesels don't have throttle bodies or butterfly's so the BOV isn't what's needed.

If you are surging, you are having wastegate issues / drive pressure issues.

Was told there is no wastegate on the 6.0 litre. Im not sure what i need exactly Elite Diesel Eng. said a bov would fix this problem but they are pricey through them was just hoping someone on here could give me a better price.

Correct. The variable vanes on it act as the "wastegate". There is a pigtail that runs to the solenoid that controls the vanes.

If those don't react fast enough, you get the turbo bark.

It's caused by the pressure difference on the intake and exhaust sides of the turbo.

You go from having lots of drive pressure, to none, but the turbo is still trying to spin and compress air.

That "bark" is basically a see saw action between the compresor and turbine wheel fighting to see who's making more pressure.

A BOV won't really solve this problem on a diesel. There is no huge increase in pressure on the intake side casued by a closing throttle body. The cause is more due to the loss of drive pressure.

Only way to really avoid it is to not jump off the throttle too quickly.
