Default New to Diesels, need advice

I need advice on which diesels are best for my needs. Pros and cons would be great. I need a four door truck that gets decent mpg and that is going to tow a fifth-wheel toyhauler about 15 times per year. Thanks.

what is your price range? out of the brand new 2012 diesels, i wouldn't see a reason any of the big 3 would be a bad choice for only towing 10-15 times a year.. but you need to be careful not to let them sit TOO long.. maybe a short 10-15 mile drive per week to keep everything working properly.

or are you in the market for a used, cheaper vehicle?

35k is probably the max, it will also be a daily driver.

I've been looking at a 09 f-350. I hear the mpg is horrible unless you get a Spartan tuner. What kind of hoops do I need to jump thru with smog being in California?
