So have you had any issues with the transmission? Not getting it to tow with. Looking at it for a few reasons one it will get higher mpg's than my Dodge, it's got more room because it's a four door, and it has a full length bed.

Not sure what Dodge you have but I get better mpgs out of my 24v than either one of the powerstrokes. The crew cab is alot more room. The only issues we have had with the transmissions is sometimes on the 300K mile one you have to let the truck warm up for a bit before it wants to shift. It got ran pretty hard by my grandpa though. Now since he has gone to a better place it mainly just sits, my grandma rarley drives it.

Is it an early 99 or a late 99? Early 99 will have the little powerstroke V8 badge up on the front fender by the headlights, late 99 got the badges on the doors. There are quite a few differences.
My buddy has a late 99 with 260k on it, trans is ok, and he's running tunes. I'd recommend at least a shift kit for $75 or whatever they are to make sure it stays together, but there's enough people building 4R100's now it shouldn't be an issue.
vcustoms, he also didn't mention if the Dodge he had was gas or diesel... but yeah I'd think an older cummins would get a hair better than a 7.3, mostly based on displacement and vehicle weight. 7.3's are pretty good on fuel though if you can keep your foot out of it.
Lunnz, the more info you can give us about the truck will let us help you more. What are you looking to do with it primarily, just better mileage???

Yeah a 01 Gasser wont touch a same year cummins or a 7.3 on mpgs. The truck already has exhaust and intake and i didnt see anything to make me think that is has had a tuner. Looks good and clean. Hows the front suspension? Carfax and Oasis report? It looks like it was a well maintained rig but looks can be decieving.
