Default 2000 24valve

Just thought I'd ask you guys what you think...

Dealer has a 2000 dodge ram 2500 qclb 24 valve cummins, 4x4, auto, laramie 148,xxx miles, drive ok needs a little tlc but the body is clean for being in pa... He has it listed for $14,500 but said he would do a straight up trade for my powerstroke... Don't get me wrong I love my truck but I have been fixing way more than expected since January...

I did notice that I think the front main is leaking... I can't tell if or what it has for aftermarkets...

Let me know what you think. Thanks guys

No clue what your truck is worth, but where I am (not far from you) that Cummins isn't worth $14k, just something to consider. When it needs TLC what does that mean? Last thing you want is trade that truck and then you need lift and injection pumps in your new rig, to the tune of $1400 or so

My truck kbb is $19,000 but noone wants to buy them or give you anything for them... Got offered $12,000 on trade for a 04 cummins...

Tlc is just little stuff ( ball joints, u joints, alignment )

I'd lean towards the 04 if I were you.

The 04 has 160,000 miles cylinder #6 was redone with new piston, rod and bored... That's what the receipts say... And the truck is beat to hell...

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

How can I tell if the 2000 has a new lift and injection pump? And how stout are the auto tranny's? I had a 2000 5.9 v8 360 and the tranny went on it...

If he can't give you any info on the pumps, take a wild guess, I'd find out more info and see if you can test fuel pressure... the tranny could be a crap shoot, some guys can't kill em, sometimes they let go on stock trucks.

See the reason why I was getting rid of my 6.0 is the hg haven't been done yet... I only owe $11,700 on my 6.0 and I only paid 10,500 for it ( $1,200 balance of my 2008 ram trade in...)

So he would do a straight up trade... So I would be getting $13,900 for my 6.0, so I would owe $11,700

I would much rather put a $900 vp44 and a $600 air dogII, then do a $4-$5,000 hg job on my 6.0.... If its not a 53 block, I haven't checked yet...

well if the auto has not been rebuilt in it's life I would say it will be out soon. I would find out what lift pump is on it. if it's stock and on the block still that is way better than an in tank setup. No matter what I would put a fass or airdog on it as soon as I got the truck. I would tell him to get the ball joints and ujoints done first then trade him. Depending on all whats out on the front end that can be 800-2000 worth of work. You can use your fuel pressure gauge off your ford for the dodge, sell off the aftermarket parts too to help get you going unless you told him everything in the truck stays.
