Yes, aside from injectors, the LB7 (01-04 Duramax) is a good engine. I just don't want to tell someone to buy one for their first diesel truck, and then immediately turn around and have to shell out close to two grand (or more) on a set of injectors, not counting labor.

I appreciate all of the feedback. Its definitely points me in the right direction, and verifies what I had originally researched/found. Based on what everyone says about auto trans, I really need to find a manual, which doesn't bother me as it seems it will improve mpg as well as be more reliable.
THANKS AGAIN.

For a manual you are looking at either a 7.3 Powerstroke, 12v, or 24v Cummins in your price range. 24v will probably be higher mileage at 13k so make sure it has a good aftermarket lift pump and fuel pressure is good at the VP-44 injection pump. More than likely any truck at 13k will be past 150k miles so check the front end for wear. Clutch could be needing replaced if its still the orginal. The Dodges could have some paint issues and the dash might be cracked. Try not to get one someone else has already messed with. The more stock the better.
