Good truck?

You asked...
Interesting, the first things you mentioned are things that have nothing to do with the condition or value of the truck. I've said this before but it seems appropriate to say it again in this case. A truck is a tool. Get the best tool you can afford and then figure on maintaining it. Now don't get me wrong, I like my trucks as much as or more than most. I've owned a bunch of them. At least one from all of the big three. The things already mentioned are all valid points. They should be checked. One thing that should factor in is the past uses of the truck. All of the big three make good trucks but racing them and pulliing them is not usually conducive to a long life. If money is no object and having your truck down for maintenance isn't an issue, then get one that has been raced or used for pulling and have fun. If you are like the rest of us who really can't or doesn't want to be without said truck, I would probably pass on this one. Don't let lights and stuff that doesn't matter lure you into a deal that isn't a deal at all.
My questions would be do you need a truck like this and can you afford a truck like this? Duallys are cool but only if you can afford to drive them. My kids all love to drive mine until it comes time to fill the tank and/or put tires on it or do any type of maintenance. It gets decent mileage but it has a big tank and parts and services aren't cheap.
Consider carefully and don't let emotions make the decision for you.
Stay safe out there.

yes me and my father sat down to consider all this and truthfully thetrucks main use would be getting me around but in summer i would use it for my swine and camping so it wouldn't be a total waste and we curently have a ford excursion that is mainly my dads but i use it often. this truck currently get 16-18mpg which is better than our excursion and my dad is a mechanic of everything so we were able to have insight on the engine and all that. i was hoping this could be my golden birthday present becuase i love truck so much and i have $1,200 saved up towards insuring it and gas plus $2,500 towards the truck in general. i know its not a lot but its a start i think.
