Default 2004 Ford Excursion 6.0 Diesel Fuel problem

I changed my primary fuel filter (at the engine) and drained the hcfm (water seperator at the frame rail under driver seat) Lots of gunk came out. maybe a tablespoon in a half pint. Primed the pump with ign. four or five times. Truck started but ran rough now wont run at all. Please help hurricane Irene on the way!!!!!!! Truck was running good. I had some missing under a load , I put in Cetane boost/detergent and ran like a top. I decided to change the filters and now I'm screwed. I was supposed to go help my family evacuate and I'm stuck. Sorry my first diesel. Thanks, John

take your filters out and see how bad they are. They might be new but if you had a lot of gunk in your tank and fuel lines they might of filled back up already.

When were they changed before this time?

Not sure just bought her in Feb 2011. I still havent changed the 36MM (Secondary Filter) yet just couldnt find the right soket today. Ford mech at the dealer told me 33. I drove all over finally found a 33 and its not it . Its a 36MM. Arghh! Would it be that clogged after I drained it and replaced the primary one? It was running rough but Cetane detergent/boost made it run good again. I guess I will try and change the secondary (frame rail) one tomorrow and hope she starts. Is there a way to see if there is fuel flowing through the secondary ie check that the bowl is full in the primary (top little filter beside the eng oil filter)??? Thanks so much for your help! John

Thanks! Got her running!! I added 5 gals of diesel and charged the batts. I believe the tank was too low to prime even though I was showing 1/8 tank or so without the fuel light on??? Who knows thanks . I am happy the tank is off the 911 list and moving again. God Bless. John
