Hello, I have a job that requires me to haul a trailer and I am going to buy a Turbo diesel. what i would like to know is, how many miles on a truck is to many? what kind of gauges do i need to put in the truck? and anything else that will help me when i get my truck. also i have been doing research and every brand has its pros and cons, but the brand i like best is the Ford, /i have been looking at alot of 7.3's. what is the best Ford Diesel out there? my budget is $12,000 all help and answers are appreciated, thank you.

also - heres the truck that i am very interested in 1997 FORD F-350 XL CREW CAB 4X4 7.3 POWER STROKE DIESEL!!!!!

i'd say a 7.3 would be you're best bet. a great engine. if your gonna be pulling trailers you're gonna want a reliable truck. the engine depending on how it was service should be fine 500+ but what kind of shape overall will that truck be in? that depends too. you need the rest of the truck to be in good shape. i'd say shoot for under 200k or 300k just to be in the best range. i drive fords and love them. great trucks. for gauges you'll want a trans temp for an auto trans, pyrometer so you can give it a little more performance with a chip and such if you feel necessary, boost....well not too necessary but will give you an idea if you have a boost leak.
are you looking at a Superduty(99-) or OBS (old body style 94-97)?

Agreed with the above.

And looks like a good truck as long as you can get a good price on it.
