I am looking for a diesel truck around the 2000 year and up. Was wonring out of all the posible engines and maks of trucks what ones get the best mpg and will last. I plan on using the truck for a dd and to gt to work and back so miles will be put on. I carry heavily loads sometimes now with my 95 2500 ram gas engine but time for a upgrade plus mpg sucks on it. Any comments will be helpfull thanks for you time

I would stick with a cummins however I do not like the vp dodges. If you wanna move up a year or so i would look into a duramax as well.

I think around a 2000 year model and 7.3 PowerStroke would be a good truck for a DD. Ive always liked the 7.3's
and had good experiences with them, and a good solid truck around it. Now if you're looking for a lot of HP, I would look other directions, but if you want a good truck to last you a while, it would be a good one

Your other options would be a 24v vp44 Cummins or an LB7 Dmax. If you get the 24v Cummins make sure you put on a good lift pump and a fuel pressure gauge to help save you from replacing an injection pump later on down the road. If you go with an 01-04 Dmax, be wary of them, injector problems were common (and costly), so just make sure the truck you are looking at has already had that problem fixed.
