300sd mercedes 1985 turbo in my46 truck

i want to put this diesel in my 1946 2 ton chev truck. the diesel is automatic , i bought the car drove it home 65miles runs good but takes a minute to get up to 65 mph.i want to c what you think and advise?the46 truck is a inline 216 cu inch orig. engine i got it to crank but want diesel.thanks h: in ga. :humm: |
Yeah should work, I dont know much about them, but there are a few guys on this site that do :tu:

Thing you have to remember is the rear axle in your '46 has 6.17 gearing (8:1 low if it's a 2-speed rear) and the trucks only weigh about 5100 lbs! It doesn't take much power to get these things moving. The original 216 had Maximum Brake Horsepower of 90 and a rated horsepower of a whopping 29.4! That Mercedes will do fine. i pulled the mercedes engine and trans out!it needs a little work while it is out.i will dry fit it soon.:jump:
