I have a 94 3500 HD and I want to change the optical sensor. I would like some input from someone that has actually done it. I am a hands on guy and I have 28 yrs experience as a professional mechanic and I ain't scared. If you ain't been there then your input won't help. I am new to this site but not to the field. Just attempted to change one on my 94 today. It wasn't that bad. Remove the snap ring on the top of the pump. Then remove the toques bolts holding the top plate and remove it. Next I had to get the diesel out of the pump. Scribe a line next to the o/p then remove it. Then just put the new one in and line it up with the mark you made.

 

Thanks for the input. Most all pump shops will tell you that it can't be done in the field but I had one tell me the truth and this will save me some time. Where can I buy the harness to move the FSD?
