On a quest....Kind of Specific....4 door Dually...Waste Oil Burning Hopefully
So, I need some assistance in choosing the correct model of truck, year, brand, powerplant and what not.
I have a vision of setting up my shop as a Used Motor Oil processing area, on a small scale of course to sustain myself and lower the amount of fuel I am purchasing....plus it is a rediculously cool thing to take trash oil and use it again.
I have a few requirements though....the end game is hopefully going to be something I will have for a very long time with minimal troubles and good looks.
Here are the goods:
So, I hope that I can get some technical assistance on picking the correct truck.
I am a huge sport truck fan, the lower the better...I know not a lot of people don't like that but, im cool with that too...I understand.
I would like to get this truck super low to the ground with air bags in the front and rear to lay the frame on the ground...Chevy's, Dodges and Fords all look good doing this to me...
So, I am a little impartial to the 6.5 TD in the 93' Chevys...although my research has shown that when using waste oil the fuel pump likes to fail....and that is exactly why I am looking for advice from tried and true experts...!
I would love to get a Cummins and do the swap in a 3500 Chevrolet but I believe that is going to be too much of a stretch for my mechanical abilities. I know this is a tough engine that would burn the 65% oil/diesel mixture happily...at least that is what some other sites have reported.
I think as far as asthetics go for the truck I would order them like this : Ford F-350 (2002-2006), Chevrolet 3500 (92?-2000), then the 3+3 Chevrolet K30's....but thats just me...
I am looking to spend as little on this project as possible, I would love to wrap all of this up in the 9 grand area just for the truck.
I have already tied up 1200.00 in a centrifuge for filtering the oil down to 1/2 micron....
I am very excited about this purchase and I look forward to your opinions and recommendations.
Killer site you guys have.
Attached is a picture of my other Diesel...well, it runs on gas also...it's a multi-fuel turbo
Also attached is what I envision as my end game....imagine this thing cruising at 75 down the highway, turbo diesel screaming, with the license plate "FUELOIL"...It's the things dreams are made of....great now i'm thinking about the interior... MUST FOCUS!

Here are the goods:
- Diesel...(of course)
- Dually
- white or black color
- automatic transmission
- the ability to burn motor oil at a 65% diesel to oil ratio
- Must be a Quad cab, 4 door

huh, dpf, gotta figure out what that means.....
I do intend on filtering it down to 1/2 micron, I think from reading the other posts on here, people are more than likely to pick the cummins engine.
The fact that the older crew cabs are easy to come by with dead engines makes me think that the cummins conversion will be the best outcome for me.
I will have to pay to get the swap done, or invite some friends over to help but I think I will be happier in the end.
Off to search out what type of transmission and swap kit I can get out there.
Thanks for replying!

AHHH, Diesel Particulate Filter...
Thanks!

You have very specific requirements. You need a 12V, and it needs to be a quad cab. So you are looking at model year 98 and those were only made for 3 months. I would not burn that fuel in a VE pumped enigine (89-93) or a common rail (03-present).
You should probably be doing an engine swap with a 12V (P-7100 pump) engine based on your requirements.
Welcome BTW

Thanks Evil, thats exactly what I was looking for!
I think the engine swap is within the reaches of my capabilities....lets hope...
I think I will look for a southern owned quad cab from the late 70's to 1991 Chevrolet truck and now that I have a really strong feeling that I need a 12V.... I will start to search around to locate all of the parts and figure out how much this is going to cost.
Thanks again Evil
