Default First timer

I'm buying a 1992 D250 this Friday. The thing is great. Other than a 3 in lift and a gauge or two it's stock. The 5.9 is in great shape and the 5 speed is great. Not a bit a slip from the clutch. There's 2 dents in the body and the gril is jacked up but I'm not worried about that. The drivetrain is good. 169xxx actual miles. My questions are what can I do to make this thing last forever and have decent miliage. That was my whole reason for buying diesel. Gobs of torque and the miliage of a honda. I'm sure there have been a million people ask this same question. I'm a generator mechanic in the Marine Corps but I don't know jack about miliage and what not. Thanks for all the words of advice and help.

tweaks to the injection pump, and fuel system upgrades are just a few off the bat to give you good mileage.

if you're referring to the engines computer, theres really not one. the 12v's are basically all mechanical. only thing the computer does is control the alternator and gauges.
