Big Cam Cummins
Hello.
I was browsing through truckpaper last night, and I came across a neat machine.
1991 FREIGHTLINER FLC12064T Conventional Truck w/o Sleeper For Sale At TruckPaper.com
yeah, I am all of 14 years old, but I think this could be a neat project. I hear those big cams are easy to get parts for and cheap to rebuild. My father has been a diesel mechanic for almost 30 years, and thats what I want to do. So specialty tools arnt of big concern. But anyway what do you guys think??
what are the numbers? are they easy to squeeze power out of?? Thanks for answering

what do u mean by 'what are the numbers"? as far as being cheap to rebuild, i dont think its the cheap u r thinking about. it will still be a couple grand min depending on what all is wrong, then u will also need special tools if u dont have em, or know someone who does. not a bad price though

yeah i realize a couple grande, but relatively cheap. My neighbor really needs a tractor in the summer to move his equipment with, so getting rid of it would not be a problem. by numbers I mean like specs. it says 350 hp but thats it. i don't know anything about cummin's not in dodges.
sorry about my unclarity with that post.
but I would like a project this winter and getting this truck runnin like a top would be pretty sweet. I have got the money after saving what I make at work in the summer.

in all honesty if you're looking for a good project, swap a 12v Cummins into something. if you play your cards right, you can do it for 2-3 grand, not including the price of whatever you swap it into.
