Default need some opinions on new truck

Alright guys i am in need of a new truck but i have no idea what i want i would like a 12v 1997 2500 manual but i also like ford and duramax but between the 3 brands i dont know what to look for on choosing between the 3 and whats the best truck for each ford dodge and chevy brands what year ford should i look at what chevy and dodge years problems pros cons for each brand. I guess im looking for whats the best chevy the best dodge and the best ford im only looking to do mild up grades cheap upgrads that will get good power and some smoke for fun. i want a manual preferably but as for upgrads im talkin sticks exhaust air intake gauges and a programer or manual fuel adjustments. My thing is that i have herd good and bad about all years of all 3 brands and i dont know what to choose bec i want reliable for my power up grades 200 hp extra at most and cheap fix if one of the trucks i choose are **** to problems. I am also on a budget around 10,000 for the cost of the vehical upgrades can come latar. Also what are high and low miles for each truck and brand. Thanks guys your alls opinions will help me choose my new diesel i miss my old one and i gotta have another thanks alot

for 10k, i think the best would be a 2nd gen dodge, 94-02

my preference would be a 96-98 12v. u can milk about 150hp out of them for just about nothin. can be picked up anywhere from 5-10k dependeing on milage and condition. if ur goin to upp the hp i would be looking for a clutch, and getting a good DD clutch will run u around 1.5-2k when its all said and done. so that leaves ya around 8k for a price range for the truck if it was me

it will be real hard to find a duramax for 10k ish, and pretty much impossible to find a dmax with a manual for that price.

as far as fords, i wouldnt get anything newer than an early 03. the 7.3l is a good reliable motor, but milking 200 hp out of it will be pricey
